How to Adjust the Pivot Pin
ThePivot Pinshould be fully seated into the bottom of thePivot Pin Cup. There should be NO Side to Side (when twisting the Truck with your hands) or Up and Down movementof the Pivot Pin(when pushing straight down on the Truck over top of the Pivot Pin shank) in thePivot Pin Cup.
Be sure to NOT run thePivot PinOut too far or lengthen it to where thePivot Pinis pushing on thePivot Pin Cupand excerting pressure on theSuspensions(Cushions) and therefore theKing Pin, and actually changing theAngle of Action. This is not a good thing. The adjustment should be solid, but do not over-do-it.
Once thePivot Pinis in the correct position, hold that position with the 7mm wrench. Use a 13mm Wrench and tighten thePivot Pin Jam Nutsagainst the shoulder on theTruck. This needs to be as tight as is physically possible. Lay the Skate on its side and actually lean on it and put your body weight into the tightening. Remember to hold thePivot Pinin the correct position with the 6mm wrench, as it will tend to rotate with the tightening of thePivot Pin Jam Nut.
ThePivot Pinis a hardened Steel and therefore much stronger than the AluminumTruckinternal threads that holds thePivot Pin. If thePivot Pinis allowed to be loose (with thePivot Pin Jam Nutnot tightened), eventually thePivot Pinwill wallar out (or make open) the threads of the AluminumTruck. At this point, no matter how tight you get thePivot Pin Jam Nut, it will NOT stay tight and will loosen up, because of the openess of the threads in the AluminumTruck. The way to correct this issue is to replace theTruckwithAxleassembly and make sure thePivot Pinsare adjusted properly and thePivot Pin Jam Nutsare keptVERY tight. Roll-Linerecommends in their manual, that thePivot Pinsbe checked once a week. I am sure there are Skaters that haveneverchecked theirPivot Pinadjustments, much less are, checking them once a week.
Movement of thePivot Pinin thePivot Pin Cupwill wear out or destroy the high quality Delrin,Pivot Pin Cup. If these get torn up, due to improperly adjustedPivot Pins, it is recommended that thePivot Pin Cupsbe changed.
ThePivot Pinand its proper adjustment is VERY Important to the performance of yourRoll-LineSkate. So, keep them adjusted or have your Skates maintained by a qualified Skate Technician.
